Baby, Not so Baby book

We recently had a friend of the family become a Dad. I wanted to make a keepsake book but the new parents are not very traditional and saw this as my chance to do something that I thought would be a little more me. I'm sure not all of you are going to like this and that' ok. That's what being creative is all about. Each page has lyrics from song that are full of good wishes for baby but not in a traditional sense. Aerosmith , Van Halen, Green Day etc. Some of the pictures don't show so well close up, but you get the idea. Maybe someday I'll get the hang of my new camera and all it's settings!

Weddings! Weddings! Weddings!

So a good part of the early part of this year was spent helping a friends daughter prepare for her wedding. That always confuses me. She is my friends daughter, I have known her since she was 8 but now that she is in her late 20's we ARE friends......anyway......In getting ready for the wedding we learned how much people will charge for simple inexpensive items JUST because it is for a wedding. There is a funny story behind the evolution of the tissue holder that I won't go into here but all it is is folded 8 1/2 x 11 paper with embellishments and the gift box ( that we saw listed on ebay for over $100.00 ( I know, right!) is made from Priority Mail boxes that come free from the post office covered material that can be purchased very inexpensively and some embellishments. Ta Da !

Spring!!

Man, I love me some buttons! I would put buttons on everything. These little guys were so fun to make. I stamped them with jet black Staz-on then used watercolor pencils to color and shade them and of course....Stickles. I am TRYING to cut back. These little babies are from the Everythings Blooming set from TAC.

Strawberry Fields

I had had these pictures and the idea for this page for over a year. I finally realized I had time and that my new Cricut cartridge ( Indie Art) had strawberries in it. I had a piece of 12x12 berry patterned paper (don't remember the make) and started to get to work. I am REALLY happy with the way the berries came out I am not so much happy with the lettering. I think it is too small, so I backed it in white to make it stand out but....still not doing it for me. I am always open to suggestions so feel free. I am trying to NOT use stickles on them to make them stand out. For me stickles has turned out to a form of addiction but recognizing it is the first step right? I am still learning how to get a decent picture taken to post, but if you click on the picture you will be able to see how great the strawberries came out.

Yes, Suzann I updated my blog!

So. Finally I have caught up ( as much as any of us really are ever caught up). I was all excited to post the Mother's Day card I made then realized that I then run the risk of my Mother seeing it before I give it to her . I had intended to start current and work backwards but because of Mother's Day, I will reverse it. One of the things I made as a gift for myself and my Mom for Christmas was a shadowbox with momentos and things that belonged to or reminded me of my Grandmother, my YaYa. I had a box of buttons that were hers so it covered a wooden heart with the buttons and then started adding all the rest. I look at it everyday and think of her (not that I needed that to remind me).

Wow....I can't believe that it has been so long since my last posting. I think I'm finally ready to get back in the swing of things.

These pictures are really easy to do and come out GREAT! Great inexpensive gift idea. The first one is mt daughters hands filled with conversation hearts. Then I just colored with a plain old pastel colored Sharpie ( who'd a thunk) a selection of the candies, but not all of them.

The second one is a picture of my girlie holding some flowers with a ribbon. I did these for her entire class for Mother's Day gifts. They are all wearing uniforms, so the only thing that could be varied was the flowers & ribbons. These I mounted on a piece of fancy trimmed paper then on black cardstock.

(I guess I should have mentioned a lot earlier that these are all black & white photo).

Yes, yet another idea I have I gotten from my favorite Angel Stamper.

Stained Glass Card

I needed to come up with an idea for a card for my Mother-in -laws Birthday. She has some hobbies like knitting and stained glass. My daughter came up with the idea for this card (she's 8) and I implemented it for her. She wanted a stained glass looking border. I took black cardstock (again) and used the Creative Memories bubble punch fo the circles. I then took colored vellum, looking back I probably could have used tissue paper for a more economical choice, and glued it to the back of the card and mounted it to the card. I happened to have some Birthday themed stickers that just fit in perfectly and that was that.
